Under Graduate Academic Programmes in Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), 2018

Short Title, Definitions, and Commencement

These Regulations shall be called the Dibrugarh University Regulations for the Under Graduate Academic Programmes in the Choice Based Credit System, 2018.

  • The Regulations shall be effective from the Academic Session 2019-2020.
  • Applicable for Bachelor Degrees in Arts (BA), Science (B.Sc.), and Commerce (B.Com.) of three years duration comprising six semesters.
  • Applicable to students enrolled under CBCS conducted by Colleges/Institutes affiliated to Dibrugarh University.
Definitions
  • CBCS: Flexible learning system permitting students to learn at their own pace, choose electives, adopt interdisciplinary approaches, and more.
  • College: Colleges or Institutes affiliated to Dibrugarh University.
  • Department: Department of College/Institute affiliated to Dibrugarh University.
  • Programme: Whole learning experience in a particular field of study.
  • Course: Unit of instruction within a Programme. Replaces the traditional concept of "paper."
  • Academic Year: A period of 12 months consisting of two semesters.
  • Semester: A half-yearly term including examinations, vacations, and breaks.
Semester Duration
  • Odd Semester: June - November (including exams and breaks).
  • Even Semester: December - May (including exams and breaks).
  • Changes in the Academic Calendar may be made by the University whenever necessary.
Admission Criteria
  • BA: Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) pass from recognized boards. Economics Honours requires Mathematics as a subject or opting for a 2-credit Mathematics course.
  • B.Sc.: Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) in Science stream. Chemistry, Physics, and Geology Honours require Mathematics.
  • B.Com.: Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) in Commerce stream. Students from Arts or Science streams with Mathematics/Statistics are eligible.
  • Eligibility criteria may be revised by the Academic Council as needed.
